NEW teachers at SJMS!

We are pleased to announce two new staff members at San Jose for the 2019-20 school year!

Mariah Fisher has been elected as the President of the teachers’ union.  She will continue to teach Beginning and Advanced Drama and a new course this year – Technical Theater.

Emma Craig joins us to teach 3 classes of Art.  When asked to introduce herself, she said …

The best memories of my childhood included visiting my grandparents up the street from San Jose Middle School.  My cousins and I would play in the forest behind their house and swim in the pool all summer long.  I’m delighted to return to Novato in service to middle school kids and their families as an art teacher.  When I’m not teaching, I love to dancing to regional Mexican music, watching great films and slowly reading around ten books at a time.
I studied film and video at Vanguard University of Southern California, studio art in New York City and more recently returned to school at CSU Fullerton to get my teaching credential. I have taught Art I in Newport Beach and Photography in Vacaville.
Casey Jones accepted an opportunity to direct music at Analy High School for this school year.  Daniel Cech will be replacing him.
Daniel hails from Oakland, CA and is in his third year of teaching. Prior to San Jose Middle School, Daniel taught a variety of performance and general music classes at Montera Middle School in Oakland. His primary instrument is bass trombone. In addition to teaching, Daniel is the executive officer of the 191st Army Band, an Army Reserve band based in Dublin, CA. He has served with the band for 9 years. He grew up in Southeast Ohio, and has lived in the Bay Area for the last 10 years. “I am excited to be working with the students and families of San Jose Middle School, and continuing the excellence of its music program.”
We are so excited to welcome these new members to our staff!
