Parent and caregiver volunteers are needed now to create the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Board for next year.  A small handful of dedicated parents have been faithfully driving PTA efforts this year, but they cannot carry this torch alone.  More are needed!

The time commitment is small but the impact is high.  A strong PTA builds a strong school, supportive community, and better educational experience for all students.  More than just fundraising, the PTA fosters connections among school families and provides an important sounding board and support system for school leaders.  We need this now more than ever.

Help us create a strong PTA at San Jose Middle School.  PTA membership is open to all parents and caregivers of San Jose Middle School students, including incoming Grade 6.  In particular, we’re looking for four (4) people to fill the following key officer positions:

  • Secretary: takes minutes at board/general meetings, handles PTA correspondence, maintains PTA records to pass on at end of school year.
  • Treasurer: keeps books, establishes gross income, signs/receives checks.
  • Financial Secretary: prepares monthly and annual reports, keeps record of all funds received or disbursed; works closely with Treasurer.
  • Historian: captures and assembles record of PTA activities/achievements, collect volunteer hours for PTA meetings/events, displays or presents brief overview of PTA near the end of the school year.

More generally, we hope to see more folks joining us for monthly PTA meetings.  The PTA meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:00pm.
